Full Pond Again

We have had a "exceptional" drought for the past year and a half - one step worse than a severe drought designation.

The foreground of the first picture shows the water in the spillway that keeps the water from going above the dam, which would potentially damage or destroy the dam.

When full the pond is almost 2 surface acres and about a million gallons.

Since we are dependent on rainwater for our water source we may need to find a way to pump water to the rainwater tanks.

The windmill on the dam helps to aerate the pond helping to keep it healthy for the catfish and a few bass.

Back home.

Back home and back to work almost two weeks. Almost seems like we were not gone especially coming home to record heat in central TX of 108f on day back. I guess leftover weather from the backside of hurricane Rita. Fortunately the two alpacas survived the heat along with the colored angora goats. Mostly they stayed in the shade or at the barn with fans on. The alpaca also enjoyed the water sprinkler intermittently.
